Narrative by Qu'ran

Ever since I was around 12 years old I have flown to New York for the summer. It was my first time getting on a plane I was nervous at first but once the plane took off it was not so scary and in the back of my mind I thought about being able to see my dad my family and friends.

When the plane first was boarded it took 15-30 minutes probably longer than that it felt like forever just to get the plane to the take off point. The takeoff felt weird for me when I first experienced it because as the plane comes off the ground you can feel yourself being pulled downward but after a few times of riding a plane it has become my favorite part of the flight. When the plane takes off I always look out the window to see the city from a bird’s eye view well until you go into the clouds then you can’t see anything.

When the plane gets to a certain height they allow use of electronics I think they do not allow it until they get to a good altitude because some devices might interfere with the planes equipment one time on my way back to North Carolina I didn’t want turn off my phone because my power button on my phone was mashed in so I just decided to put my phone on airplane mode and not take it out it works the same turn your phone off because what it does is It makes it so your phone stops sending out radio waves that would interfere with air plane equipment because you will not be able to make or receive any calls or texts when in air plane mode, but you can use it on an air plane instead of turning your phone completely off. So you could, for example, play games on your phone on an air plane without interfering with their equipment.I would either play my PSP or listen to some music and go to sleep.

My first 3 or 4 plane tickets was first class you can really tell the difference between first class and coach the things you get make you feel like you are kind of rich they give you a pillow and a blanket for when your cold and want to relax and something even better was the fact that you get the snacks and drinks first before most of the people on the plane when I was younger I always had a seat to myself it made the plane ride so much better than it already was.

The one and only thing I hate about being on a plane is when my ears pop it happens due because the air high above the surface of Earth is less dense than air near the surface, because air near the surface has all the air above it pushing down.  When it first happened to me it hurt just a little bit it’s not really the feeling of my ears popping it’s the headache I get from my ears popping, my grandma told me one time that if you chew gum your ears won’t pop it definitely does help I’ve tried it like the first time I got off the plane I felt like I was almost deaf until later on the day my ears eventually went back to normal. I learned on my most recent flight to New York for Christmas break that the best way to get rid of it is soon as you get the chance to eat a meal it goes away I realized after I came back to North Carolina from New York.

The rule for riding the plane is if your under the age of 18 your minor and they have to send someone on the plane to check on you every once in a while and if your minor you have to wait till everybody is off the plane to get off so they can escort you to your location get your bags and make sure your safe until your parent or guardian has arrived and picked you up.

After my first successful flight I can remember how happy I was to get off and see my dad because I haven’t seen him since I had my surgery on my ear that was maybe a while ago maybe a few months I don’t remember I can honestly say this one of my most memorable moment one of the many biggest smiles I’ve ever had in my life.

  2. Darien-I didn't get that idea at all. I understood that Qu'ran liked the plane except for his ears popping.

Qu'ran--thanks for writing this. I would love to experience what first-class is like someday too--bet it's a world away from coach. So the first time you flew you were twelve? Do you enjoy going to NYC?

  3. You sound like me on here, I've been flying since I was 2 though. I love how you went into detail about the things you could and could not do on the plane.
